Although Port Charlotte is unincorporated. it is designated, by the U.S. Postal Service as the address for most of the county's residents. 

Charlotte County is located on and around Charlotte Harbor, the 2nd largest Bay in Florida. (Tampa Bay being the largest).  Both the Myaaka and Peace River end their journey to the gulf waters as they flow into Charlotte Harbor, and the Beaches of Englewood, Little Gasparilla Island, Don Pedro Island and Palm Island lie on its Western shore giving Charlotte County miles and miles of natural beaches and shoreline.

Port Charlotte and Charlotte County have areas where you'll find miles and miles of man made canals. It's no wonder that people come here to enjoy the water, fishing, sailing, and enjoying the beaches.  An old fishing legend says that once you come to fish in Charlotte County waters, you're hooked for life! 

There is much more than fishing, boating, sailing and beaches. Charlotte County offers many nature preserves and parks, golfing, fine restaurants, and an excellent school system.
