Welcome to Pine Island on Southwest Florida's beautiful gulf Coast.
I work online and in-Person assisting buyers and sellers in Pine Island and other coastal areas of Southwest Florida including Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte.

Pine Island, is not not your typical coastal island community with beach side high rises, surf shops and souvinere t-shirts. Pine Island is a rare barrier island separated from the Gulf of Mexico by Pine Island Sound and the protective outer barrier islands of Cayo Costa, North Captiva, Captiva Island and Sanibel Island. Because the island lies on the interior waters of Charlotte Harbor it has Mangrove lined shorelines instead of sandy beaches.
Pine Island offers a quiet, off-the-beaten-track lifestyle with an eclectic mix of properties and people. There are tropical tree and fruit nurserys, cosy cottages, waterfront homes and condos, grand estates,  and a rich history that includes ancient indian mounds, Spanish explorers and early island pioneers.

Since there is only one bridge on and off the island you can't help but pass through the narrow  little fishing village of Matlacha (peonounced Mat-La-shay).  Matlacha is a must see destination with it's small but vibrant artist colony, many colorful shops where you can still find little treasures not found anywhere else and a variety of casual waterside restaurants with suprisingly great food.

Pine Island is a rare barrier island that is uniquely situated inside of Charlotte Harbor and is separated from the Gulf of Mexico by Pine Island Sound and the protective outer barrier islands of Cayo Costa, North Captiva, Captiva Island and Sanibel Island. Mangrove forests line the shoreline of Pine Island and because the island lies on the interior waters of Charlotte Harbor it does not have the beaches that are found on the outer barrier islands.

Much of the the waters surrounding Pine Island fall within protected aquatic preserves which are filled with abundant sea grasses and bountiful marine life. It is a tropical paradise for those who enjoy fishing & boating and who love a casual, laid-back island lifestyle.

Pine Island is a fisherman's paradise with boating access to the open waters of Charlotte Harbor, Pine Island Sound, San Carlos Bay, Boca Grande Pass and The Gulf of Mexico. Learning the local waters can be challenge due to the many shallows and shoals found in the waters surrounding Pine Island. Sail boat and larger vessels must be careful to stay in the marked channels until they learn where it's safe to go. Locals call this "skinny water" and many would rather "fish the flats" and the mangrove islands using specialized shallow draft "flats" boats than fish the deeper waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

Pine Island is the largest island on Floridas West Coast, It runs 17 miles long and 2 miles wide.  Because it does not have the attraction of beaches, Pine Island has not drawn the high rise condos and other development that you find on the outer barrier islands. Pine Island is still mostly rural in nature. However, more and more people are finding it's old Florida atmosphere and charm appealing and there is a growing demand for property. Pine Island is trying to find a reasonable way to accommodate growth while maintaining it's Old Florida charm. We are all hoping it can do so.

Pine Island has five small village areas;  Matlacha,  St. James City which lies on the Southern tip of Pine Island, Bokeelia (pronounced Bow-keel-yah)which sits on the northern end, Pineland which is on the Northwest side and Pine Island Center is right in the heart of the island and where you will find most of the commerical activity.

Much of the interior of Pine Island is devoted to agribusiness and the growing of tropical trees and fruits. Marinas and waterfront homes dot its mangrove lined shores. There is an executive golf course on the island and Pine Island is the home of The Randall Research Center  which has been conducting archaeologic reserch on the Caloosa Indian culture that florished in the area hundreds of years ago. The center has a museum and a heritage trail that tells much about the history of the area.
